Browns Bench Obsidian is thought to be associated with the Bruneau / Jarbidge Volcanic Field and occurs along Browns Bench, Goose Creek, Hudson Ridge, and Jackpot in Ada, Blaine, Cassia, Elmore, Gooding, and Twin Falls counties Idaho, Elko County, Nevada, and Box Elder County, Utah.  Primary outcroppings occur on the bench west of Salmon Falls Resevior. along Rock Creek, and Mahogany Butte.
