Color:  Bourne chert is predominantly brown to cream, red, or violet, but ranges from pink, yellow, brown, orange, and light blue also occur.  Commonly chalcedonic with needle like inclusions

Texture: 
Fine crystalline grain

Luster: Waxy to vitreous

Translucency:  Opaque to semi translucent
