Color:  Boggs Chert ranges in color from a dark gray to black or bluish black with numerous white or light colored speckles from fossils

Boggs chert is associated with the Boggs Member of the Pottsville Formation of Ohio and Pennsylvania.  Primarily occurring as abundant beds and nodules with  outcroppings occuring in Perry County, Muskingum, Licking, Coshocton, and Tuscarawas counties in Ohio.  Found into West Virginia.
