Battiest Chert is associated with the Battiest Chert Member of the Tenmile Creek Formation, Stanley Group of Oklahoma.  Primary exposures occur near Battiest, McCurtain County, Oklahoma.  Originally named Smithville Chert Lentil for exposures near Smithville, Oklahoma.  Best exposures are along the Boktukola syncline area to the northern flanks of the Bethel Syncline.
