Distribution:
Banff Chert is associated with the Banff Formation of Alberta.  Primary outcroppings occur Banff National Park near Vermilion Lakes, Kananaskis Basin, and the High Rocky Ridge near Crowsnest Pass.  However, the Banff Formation does extend into northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories.  No outcroppings were reported in these areas.  This is a local material.
