Atan Quartzite is associated with the Atan Formation of British Columbia and Yukon occurring as beds at the base of the formation with exposures occurring on the mountains north and south of the French River near Atan Lake, along the Jennings River, Cassiar Mountains north of Peace River and the Pelly Mountains.
