Heat Treatment: Heat Treatment brings out colors of red and pink and enhances the luster.

Named for Allendale County South Carolina where the greatest source of this chert is found within South Carolina.  Primary outcroppings occur in Allendale County, South Carolina and Jasper County, Georgia.  This might be associated with the McBean member of the Lisbon Formation, Clairborne Group which outcrops in this area or the more accepted Flint River Formation of the Vicksburg Group outcrops in this area as well.
