Aaron Slate is associated with  the Aaron Formation of the Virginia Carolina Slate Belt and is primarily occurring as beds and lenses along Aarons Creek in Person and Granville counties, North Carolina and into Virginia.  Found throughout the Piedmont of Virginia and North Carolina
